The Trap was a fabulous neighborhood bar, but acoustically, it had problems. Vaulted ceilings, large windows, and exposed hardwood in the small space made the bar uncomfortably noisy. The owners didn’t want to remove all of the noise, they just wanted to soften the overpowering echo constantly swirling throughout the room. Knowing they had to do something, the owners reached out to Sonic-Shield’s parent company New England Soundproofing for help to manage their unique acoustic challenge.
Our solution was four-fold. First, we designed and constructed custom-shaped acoustic wall panels to hang above the entryway, wrapped in a fabric that matched the wall color. Second, we suspended acoustical baffles, within their stunning wood beam chandelier. Our third solution was custom printed wall panels with artwork of the owner’s choosing. Finally, not visible but very productive, we installed soundproofing material under every chair to eliminate the reverberation rising off the hardwood floor.
Through these simple yet effective measures, we were able to reduce the overwhelming background volume, without diminishing the bar’s friendly, sociable atmosphere.
