Martha’s Vineyard Museum

Martha’s Vineyard Museum has been an important part of its community for almost a hundred years, archiving more than 15,000 objects, from archaeological material to maritime objects, textiles, decorative arts, and natural history. The exhibitions, special programs and events are the heart of the museum. Unfortunately, the noise from their air conditioner units was detracting from their concerts and events.

To get help with a solution, they called Sonic-Shield’s parent company New England Soundproofing. We set up a consultation, visited the site and gave them feedback on solutions. They chose to enclose the A/C units with a custom-made fence containing both Noise Barrier to stop the noise from escaping, and Acoustic Fiber to absorb noise and reverberation.

Martha’s Vineyard Museum believed their people would be up to the challenge of installing the products and building the enclosure themselves. We supplied the Museum with the materials and the detailed instructions they would need to build the soundproofing utility fence. The pictures show the beautiful job they did, resulting in a satisfied client with less noise from the A/C Units.

Now the Museum can get back to inspiring people to explore the diverse heritage of the area.
